Conflict Resolution and Violence Prevention for High School

What is Conflict Resolution and Violence Prevention for High School?

Educators know that social skill instruction in conflict resolution and violence prevention can enhance students’ protective factors against risky behaviors, support students’ healthy growth and development, and contribute to a positive school culture.  Yet, for middle and high schools, the challenge is determining when, where, and how to integrate effective conflict resolution and violence prevention instruction into an already crowded curriculum.  ESR trains school staff to engage students in lessons that are carefully selected and adjusted to fit 50-minute periods adapted from the widely acclaimed resource, Conflict Resolution in the High School.  The 20-lesson unit can be integrated into health education courses, 9th grade orientation, Freshman transition courses, guidance programs, advisories, exploratory classes and electives, and grade level team instruction.
